Our low-income housing waitlists are open!
Use our new service portal to apply for a THA subsidized unit, a rental assistance voucher, or both.
What’s new with THA’s waitlist:
Our waiting lists for housing assistance are now open continuously! You can apply at any time through our new online service portal.
We are now offering two main waitlists for housing help. You can apply for a unit in our affordable properties, and one for or a voucher to help pay the rent in Tacoma. The Applicant Portal allows households to apply to the waitlist(s) of their choice and make updates to their application.
You can print or download our waitlist flyer to share with anyone interested in applying. Available in the languages shown below.

In-person assistance
You can drop in at one of Tacoma Public Library’s branch locations to get help with the waitlist application process:
- November 14 & 15, from 10 am to 6 pm
- November 19 & 20, from noon to 8 pm
THA staff at our main office will also be able to assist you during our regular office hours.
Important:
- The date and time you apply does not impact when you will be selected from the waitlist.
- You do not need to apply as soon as the waitlist opens.
- The waitlist will remain open indefinitely.
Keep your application up to date
After you apply, you will need to log in monthly to check in and keep their spot on the waitlist(s). Make sure you keep your contact details and household information up to date as well.
Beginning in December 2024, you will see a “Save My Spot” tile when you log in to the Applicant Portal. You must complete the “Save My Spot” activity every month, before the 25th of each month, to confirm that to want to remain on the waitlist(s). If you do not save you spot, you will be removed from the waitlist(s).
You also need to update us if you need to add or remove people from your household, or if anyone becomes disabled. This may impact the type of assistance you qualify for.
I’m already on the waitlist. What’s next?
If you were added to the THA waitlist during previous openings, you will be served before we make offers of assistance to households on the new waitlist.
How to find out if you are already on the waitlist
Current applicants on the waitlist have been contacted and notified to register in the Applicant Portal. Once you have an account, you will be able to log in and see if you are currently on our waitlist. If you are not, you can reapply to our new waitlists at any time.
Make sure to create an account in the new Applicant Portal and keep your contact details and household information up to date. If we are unable to contact you, you may be removed from the waitlist, in which case we encourage you to reapply to the new waitlist.
We no longer give an estimated wait time for households on our waitlist, and the wait times for smaller households may be longer due to availability of units. See the waitlist FAQs for more information.
