Tacoma Housing Authority is considering changes to its Waiting List
To help it decide, THA reviewed its waiting lists for both the housing portfolio that it manages and for its Housing Opportunity Program of rental assistance subsidies. THA also reviewed practices and policies of other housing authorities, private for-profit, and non-profit housing providers. The proposed changes are a result of the recommendations from that effort.
Tacoma continues to experience a competitive rental market and low-income households find it difficult to compete in the current rental housing market. Waiting list applicants often wait years for their turn for an offer of a unit or voucher. THA is doing everything within its means to provide affordable, safe and stable housing to as many households as possible. THA’s Board of Commissioners will consider some changes to THA Waiting List.
